Explanation:

a) In solution of tartaric acid , Blue litmus paper turns to red as it is a acid and in acids blue litmus paper changes to red .

In Soap solution , blue litmus paper remains unchanged as it is a base and in bases blue litmus paper have no effect .

Pure water is neutral to litmus which means that no change in the colour of blue or red litmus paper is observed when treated with water.

In pure water also Phenolphthalein has no effect .
