Answer:

Median :

3,4,9,10,12,15,17,27,47,48,75,81

Here there are two middle values 15 and 17 .

median \: = \: 15 + 17 \: \\ = 32

 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 32 \div 2

 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 16

So , the median is 16 .

Answer:

First we will arrange the data in ascending order:

3, 4, 9 , 10, 12, 15, 17, 27, 47, 48, 75, 81

N = 12 terms

It is even.

So median = {(n/2) + (n/2 + 1)}/2 th

= {(12/2) + (12/2 + 1)}/2 th

= {(6) + (6+1)}/2 th

= (6 + 7)/2 th

= 13/2 th = 6.5 th

It means that the median lies between 6th and 7th terms.

6th term = 15

7th term = 17

Now median = Average of 6th and 7th terms

Therefore, median = (15 + 17)/2

= 32/2 = 16

Hence, 16 is the median of the given data as it is in between the 6th and 7th terms.

Hope it helps.
