Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

15%. discount occurs on an article on a discounted price again 10% on that article.

To find:-

Find the total percentage of discount on the article?

Solution:-

Let the Original price of the article =X

First discount on it=15%

=>15% of the price

=>15%(X)

=>(15/100)(X)

=>15X/100

=>3X/20

Now Price after discount of the article

=>X-(3X/20)

=>(20X-3X)/20

=>17X/20

And the second discount on it=10%

=>10% of (17X/20)

=>(10/100)(17X/20)

=>(17X/20)(1/10)

=>17X/200

Now the price after the second discount

=>(17X/20)-(17X/200)

=>(17X)(10-1)/200

=>17X(9/200)

=>153X/200

Now

=>(153/2)X/100

=>75.6X/100

=>75.6/100of X

The total percentage of discount=

=>1-75.6/100

=>(100-75.6)/100

=>24.4/100

=>24.4%

Answer:-

Total discount on it=24.4%
