Given that the ages of A and B is 5:7.

Let us assume that the age of A = 5x.

Let us assume that the age of B = 7x.

4 years hence:

⇒ Age of A = 5x + 4.

⇒ Age of B = 7x + 4.

Given that four years hence the ratio of their ages will be 3:4

⇒ 5x + 4 : 7x + 4 = 3 : 4

⇒ 4(5x + 4) = 3(7x + 4)

⇒ 20x + 16 = 21x + 12

⇒ -x = -4

⇒ x = 4.

Then:

⇒ 5x = 5(4) = 20.

⇒ 7x = 7(4) = 28.

Therefore:

Present age of A = 20 years.

Present age of B = 28 years.

Hope it helps!
