Answer:

Quantum numbers may be defined as a set of 4 numbers with the help of which we can get complete information about all the electrons in an atom ,ie. location ,energy ,the type of Orbital occupied, space and orientation of that orbital. It tells the principal energy level or shell to which the electron belongs.

➡ The number giving adress of electrons within an atom is called as Quantum Number. {n,l,m,s}

ᎢᎻᎬᏚᎬ ᎪᎡᎬ ᎾF FᎾᏌᎡ ᎢYᏢᎬᏚ :-

Principal quantum no. {n} :-

  • It gives us info about the size and energy about an orbital.

Azimuthal quantum number (l) :-

  • It gives info about shape of the orbital.

Ex: S orbital has sphere shape and its “l” (azimuthal quantum number ) is 0.

  • P orbital (l=1) is dum,bell shaped.

Magnetic quantum no. (m) :-

  • It gives us info about the orientation of the orbital.

  • For every botvital it strictly lies between “-l to l”, where l is azimuthal quantum number.

Spin quantum number (s) :-

  • This shows the spin of an electron in the orbital. It’s value can only be +1/2 or -1/2 representing clockwise and anti clockwise direction of the spin.
