given, 2/x + 6/y = 13
3/x + 4/y = 12
now let 1/x = p and 1/y= q.
so, 2p + 6q = 13...(1)
3p + 4q = 12...(2)
multiplying 3 × eq.(1) we get,6p + 18q = 39
multiplying 2 × eq.(2) we get,6p + 8q = 24
Subtracting we get, 10q = 15 i.e q = 3/2.
Now putting q=3/2 in eq.(2) we get,
3p + 6 = 12 i.e p = 6/3 i.e p = 2.
so now 1/x = 2 i.e x = 1/2.
and 1/y = 3/2 i.e y = 2/3.

Here's your answer,
Let → a = 1/x and b = 1/y
put these values in equation :

first equation :

→ 2(1/x) + 6(1/y) = 13
→ 2a +6b = 13
multiply by (3) both side (for elimination)
→ 6a + 18b = 39 - - - - - - - - eq. no. 1

second equation :

→ 3(1/x) + 4(1/y) = 12
→ 3a + 4b = 12
multiply by (-2) both side (for elimination)
→ -6a - 8b = -24 - - - - - - - eq. no. 2

By 1 & 2 equation :

-6a -8b = -24
6a +18b = 39
__________
10b = 15
b = 3/2

put this in eq. no. 2

-6a - 8(3/2) = - 24
-6a - 12 = -24
-6a = -24+12
a = -12/-6
a = 2

as we let a and b so,
put these values

b = 1/y
3/2=1/y
y = 2/3

a = 1/x
2 = 1/x
x = 1/2

so, x = 1/2 and y = 2/3

Hope , this is helpful to you
