A Letter To God

Lencho was a low-income farmer. He was also a hard worker, an ox of a man. His ripe corn crops were severely damaged and ruined due to heavy rain and hailstorm. He became concerned and anxious due to this tragic loss, which meant that his family would go hungry that year. Lencho had a strong faith in God and believed only God could help him escape this challenging situation. He decided to write a letter to God in the hopes that God would compensate him for his loss. Lencho's request for and expectation of monetary and financial assistance from God was naivety and sheer innocence on his part. Lencho was a genuine, responsible, and hardworking individual.

He had put forth his best and most sincere efforts in sowing his crop fields. He couldn't imagine and believe that his actions would be for nought in the blink of an eye. As a responsible citizen, he was deeply concerned about the well-being of his family and couldn't bear the thought of them being in trouble. He attempted to do something unusual and out of the ordinary, namely write a letter to an invisible force that he believed was omnipresent, out of concern for his loved ones. I feel terrible for the poor man because he suffered the loss due to circumstances beyond his control.

However, I believe it was inappropriate and unreasonable for Lencho to blame the post-office staff for the insufficient amount of money that he had received. The post office employees did nothing wrong and did their best to assist the poor man, and Lencho should have thanked God and the post office staff for their help in his time of need.

  • Lencho is writing a letter to God requesting compensation.
  • The letter surprised the Postmaster, as did the rest of the staff.
  • Postal workers assisted Lencho by providing the monetary assistance he requested.
  • When Lencho receives a sum less than what he had requested, he decides to write another letter to God complaining about it.
