Let the present ages of abha and her mother be 2x and 5x

present age of abha = 2x

Present age of abha's mother = 5x

so, from now when abha born her mother was 27 years.

So we can say that

if we subtract present age of abha's mother from the present age of abha then we will get the age of her mother during her birth.

Therefore --

5x - 2x = 27

=> 3x = 27

=> x = 27 ÷ 3

=> x = 9

Therefore present age of abha = 2(9) = 18 years

and Present age of her mother = 5(9) = 45 years.

VERIFICATION ----

5(9) - 2(9) = 27

45 - 18 = 27

27 = 27

Since, L.H.S = R.H.S

Therefore value of x is correct.

Let the present age of Abha's mother be x + 27

According to the question,

\dfrac{x}{x + 27} = \dfrac{2}{5}

5x = 2x + 54

5x - 2x = 54

3x = 54

x = \dfrac{54}{3}

x = 18

Age of Abha => x years

=> \underline{18 years}

Age of Abha's mother => x + 27 years

=> 18 + 27

=> \underline{45 years}



\therefore{} The ages of Abha and her mother is 18 years and 27 years respectively.
