Explanation:
The existence of luck and of the ability to influence luck, both for good or ill, is one of the prolific and diverse beliefs in all of humanity. More popular than a belief in a personal God, more widespread than a belief in humanistic potential, and more prevalent than any kind of belief in natural or earth-based spirits, the belief in Luck crosses lines of religion, class, race, culture, upbringing, and geographic distance.
But is it real?
Like all of what we call mysteries of life it is impossible, of course, to prove one way or the other.
'He worked by day, He worked by night
He burnt a lot of midnight oil, He spent all day in study and toil
Then he reached a point of success, And people called in Luck!'
Everyone wants to be lucky; lucky in a job, lucky in marriage, lucky in a game, lucky in getting a preferred subject in college! But what is luck exactly? It is difficult to define. Is it being blessed by God? Is it something coincidental? Is it something that happens out of the world?
Most of us mistake luck as something that drops from the sky; but most of the time it is the result of our own action, attitude and mindset. Luck comes in the garb of hard work, persistence and perseverance. When people succeed, we see only their success, not the preparation and hard work behind it.
We envy the rich. We consider them lucky. They can get admissions anywhere in the world. They travel in luxury cars. They have palatial houses, hundreds of servants, a big bank balance! But do you actually think they can maintain such a high standard of living if they don't plan well, manage their finances well, run offices, manage people and other things? One cannot remain 'lucky' forever! One has to sweat for it! It is truly said that there are no free meals in this world. If not physical toil, one has to pitch in mentally, emotionally and socially for remaining lucky. Yes, things can happen by fluke any time, out of the blue. One cannot dismiss this phenomenon as altogether impossible, but one can also manoeuvre luck by being present in the right place at the right time.
Pandit Nehru was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. So far, so lucky! But the attained global stature on the ground of his intelligence, vision, scientific thinking, education, talent in writing, speaking and interacting with people. His achievement was not mere luck! He moulded his life in such a way, that he remained a lucky personality in the eyes of the world.
In sports, people become famous due to their efforts, coaching, training, maintaining stamina and what not. You can score a six or a goal out of sheer luck. That requires skill, talent and willpower! In movies, there are many first time Lucky ones. But to maintain that luck, they have to persevere. Take the Khans, the Kapoors and Kumars. They are lucky; they are prosperous, they seem to be happy and they are always in the limelight. The common factor underlying all the lucky ones is progress. Once they achieve something, they don't rest on their haunches. Wide, wider and still wider. That should be the policy to remain lucky. That is the secret everybody should be aware of. 'Once lucky always lucky' is the mantra everybody should practice!
