Let the width of rectangle = x cm

Length will be = (2x -5) cm

If length is decreased by 5 cm,

New length = (2x-5)-5 cm = (2x-10)cm

If the width is increased by 2 cm,

New width = (x+2) cm

According to the question,

Perimeter of this new rectangle = 74cm

=> 2 (2x-10+x+2) = 74

=> 3x -8 = 74/2

=> 3x = 37 +8

=> x = 45/3

=> x = 15

Hence,

Width = 15cm

Length = (2*15-5) = 25cm
