Plz help me solve this numerical...

State the change in ammeter reading observed when the resistance wire in a circuit is replaced by a wire of same material and same length but comparatively double cross-sectional area keeping the source of potential difference constant.

Given :

The new cross-sectional area is 2 times the previous one .

To find :

The change in ammeter reading observed .

Solution :

I ∝ 1/R   when V is constant            ........(i)

R ∝ 1/A when resistivity and length are constant       .......(ii)

using (i) and (ii) , we can say that ,

I ∝ A

When the cross-sectional area is doubled , the current will be doubled .

The ammeter will read 2 times the previous current .
