Q) The adjoining figure shows a cuboidal block of wood through which a circular cylindrical hole of the biggest size is drilled. Find the volume of the wood left in the block.

Answer :-

13500 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation :-

Given :-

  • Diameter of big hole :- 30 cm
  • Height of big hole :- 70 cm

To Find :-

Volume of wood left

Solution :-

Diameter = 30

Radius = 30/2 = 15

Height = 70

-------------------------

Volume of hole = Volume of cylinder = πr^2h

= 22/7 x 15 x 15 x 70

= 22 x 15 x 15 x 10

= 49500 cm^3

------------------------

Volume of cuboidal block of wood = Volume of cuboid = L x B x H

= 70 x 30 x 30

= 63000 cm^2

------------------------

Volume of wood left = Volume of wood block - Volume of hole

= 63000 - 49500

= 13500 cm^2
