use distance formula
solve for y
you must get a quadratic equation
solve and add up the roots

Anonymous: But I m not getting ans
soumali17: take one pt as 2,-3 and the other as 10,y
soumali17: apply distance formula
Anonymous: Tell me ans
soumali17: and is d

Abscissa means x-co ordinate.

Now according to distance formula,

(10)^2= (10-2)^2 + (x-(-3))^2
100=64+(x-(-3))^2
36=(x-(-3))^2
6=(x+3)
x=3

OR

(10)^2= (2-10)^2 + (-3-x)^2
100-64=(-3-x)^2
36=(-3-x)^2
6=(-3-x)
6+3=(-x)
x=(-9)

so total sum of possible values
=(-9)+3
=(-6).
