F(x)=x^3-3x^2-9x-5
X+1 is a factor
So f(x)/x+1
X+1(x^2 -4x-5)
(X+1)(x+1)(x+5)

Please refer the above photographs for the used process...
KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER :-
- The very first step is to use the trial and error method and find one factor of the given polynomial by using the factor theorem.
- The next step is to divide the given polynomial by the factor which we got by using the factor theorem.
- The division is to be done by the direct division method.
now,
In the earlier classes we had studied regarding the division rule.
DIVIDEND = DIVISOR * QUOTIENT + REMAINDER
- applying this we get the two terms multiplied to each other to get p(x)
Now,
- The second term has to be split using the mid term splitting method.
- After splitting the terms we will get the three factors of P(x) multiplied to each other giving answer.
NOTE:-
- Any polynomial has the number of its zeros that is the number of its factors equal to the degree of the polynomial.
For example,
In this case the degree of the polynomial was three so we got three factors.
Thanks!
