Answer:

Metals:

Metals are usually Metals:

  1. Metals are usually good conductors of heat and electricity.
  2. They are hard, opaque, shiny, lustrous and malleable and ductile.
  3. Metals usually form ionic bonds.

None-Metals:

Non-metals are usually good insulators of heat and electricity.

  1. They are usually brittle and have dull appearence.
  2. None-metals usually form covalent compounds..
  3. Metals usually form ionic bonds.

None-Metals:

Non-metals are usually good insulators of heat and electricity.

They are usually brittle and have dull appearence.

None-metals usually form covalent compounds.

Metal Physical Properties:

  • Lustrous (shiny)
  • Good conductors of heat and electricity.
  • High melting point.
  • High density (heavy for their size)
  • Malleable (can be hammered)
  • Ductile (can be drawn into wires)
  • Usually solid at room temperature (anexception is mercury)
  • Opaque as a thin sheet (can't see through metals)

Non-Metal Physical Properties:

  • May be solid, liquid or gas at room temperature.
  • Has lower melting point than metals.
  • Has lower boiling point than metals.
  • Non-lustrous - dull, not shiny.
  • Poor conductors of heat.
  • Poor conductors of electricity.
  • Brittle - break when stretched.
  • Low tensile strength - easily broken.
