Answer:

let the number be a,a+d, a-d

3 a = -3

a = -1

a^3 - ad^2 = 8

-1 + d^2 = 8

d = +- 3

So, the no. will be -1,-4,-7or if we take d = +3 then no. Will be -1,2,-1

Hope it helps.

Assuming the numbers in AP to be

(a-d) , (a) , (a+d)

According to the question,

a-d+a+a+d = -3

=> 3a = -3

=> a= -1 .....................(i)

(a-d) * (a) * (a+d) = 8

=> (-1-d) * (-1) * (-1+d) = 8 (by (i))

=> (d+1) * (d-1) = 8

=> d² - 1 = 8

=> d² = 9

=> d = ± 3

Now, that you have "a" and "d", you can find the numbers

By the way the numbers are -4 , -1 & 2.
