Then, AC is mid point of AB so its length = 20/2
= 10 cm.
AD is the mid point of AC then it divides AC in to two equal halves which means the length of AD = 10/2 = 5cm.

Length of AB = 20 cm.
Length of AD = 5 cm

$\frac{5}{20} = \frac{1}{4}$
AD is 1/4 th of AB . Hence , proved.

This means AC = 1/2AB
Now we know that D is the midpoint of AC.
Then this means that
AD = 1/2AC
Now AC = 1/2AB (since AC is half of AB)
and AD = 1/2 AC
then AD = 1/2 × 1/2 AB
=> AD = 1/4 AB
