Answer:

Answer for [i] is 6 and [ii] is 1

Step-by-step explanation:

[i] We can write 25 as 5^{2}

So now, 5^{2} x 5^{a} = 5^{8}

According to laws of exponent when we will multiply 2 no. with same base but different power then the powers will be added

For eg: 3^{2} x 3^{5} = 3^{7}

So here if we apply this law then

5^{2} x 5^{a} = 5^{8}

5^{2+a} = 5^{8}

Now as the bases are same we will only consider powers

2 + a = 8

a = 6

[ii] We can write 1296 as 6^{4}

So now, 6^{a} x 6^{3a} = 6^{4}

Bases are same so the powers will add

6^{4a} = 6^{4}

We will now consider only powers as bases are same

4a = 4

a = 1

Hope it's helpful
