Given x/a - y/b = 0

          bx - ay/ab = 0

          bx - ay = 0       ------------- (1)

Given ax + by = a^2 + b^2.   --------- (2)

On solving (1) * b, (2) * a, we get

b^2x - aby = 0

a^2x + aby = a(a^2 + b^2)

--------------------------------------

x(a^2 + b^2) = a(a^2 + b^2)

x = a.

Substitute x = a in (1), we get

bx - ay = 0

b(a) - ay = 0

a(b - y) = 0

b - y = 0

b = y

Therefore the value of x = a and y = b.

Hope this helps!
