tan(θ) = opp/adj

Let the height of tower PQ be A

From point x:

tan(60) = A/distance

distance = A/tan(60)

distance = A/(√3)

From point y:

tan(45) = (A - 40)/distance

Distance =( A - 40)/tan(45)

Distance = A - 40

Since both the distance is the same:

A/√3 = A - 40

A = A√3 - 40√3

A√3 - A =40√3

A (√3 - 1)  = 40

A = 40 / (√3 - 1)

A = 54.64 m

Answer: The height of the tower is 54.64 m
