Mother's present age = a
After 12 years,
Mother's age = a + 12
Sum of ages of sons = a + 12 × 5 = a + 60
According to question,
2 ( a + 12) = a + 60
=> 2a + 24 = a + 60
=> 2a - a = 60 - 24
=> a = 36
Mother's present age = 36 years
Mother's present age = a
After 12 years,
Mother's age = a + 12
Sum of ages of sons = a + 12 × 5 = a + 60
According to question,
2 ( a + 12) = a + 60
=> 2a + 24 = a + 60
=> 2a - a = 60 - 24
=> a = 36
Mother's present age = 36 years
