in an electric bill the energy consumed is expressed as units
and for each unit there will be spefic cost to be paid
For example if you have consumed 100 units per month and if in your area the cost is 3 rs/unit then the bill will be Rs.300
Each unit is equal to 1 Kilo watt hour (kWH)
1 kWH is nothing but the energy used by 1 kW = 1000 W device for one hour
you can see in your house the ratings of devices like 60 W for bulbs, 800 W for heaters etc. so this will be multiplied by the time you used it, to calculate the energy consumed in terms of kWH or unit
