Answer:

Necessity is the mother of invention

Necessity is the mother of invention is a popular proverb. This proverb means that when faced with a necessity, one is likely to be inspired to create a novel or ingenious solution. History has proved that great inventions have always been made in emergency situations.

In primitive age men had no house to live in, no clothing to protect their body against cold or heat. The extreme needs for shelter, clothing and food compelled human-beings to find ways to make homes, clothes and produce crops. The fable of the clever crow is a story that appropriately illustrates that necessity is the mother of invention.

On a hot summer day a crow felt thirsty and he flew off in search of water. After a long search he saw a pitcher in a garden. He flew down to it but was unable to reach the little water at the bottom. He looked around and saw some pebbles scattered here and there. He started picking he pebbles and dropped them one by one into the pitcher. Gradually the water level rose and the crow drank the cool water and flew away crowing happily. His innovative idea at the right moment saved him from dying of thirst. Necessity is indeed the main force behind every new invention and discovery.
