this because atomic mass of an atom(oxygen) is equal to the sum of its neutrons and protons and in the given reaction O2 has 2(8protons and 8neurtons) ..therefore its atomic mass is equal to

...8+8=16u.

Mather: So..?

heya

the reason behind we taken oxygen =16

I'd that atomic no of oxygen is 8,

and atomic mass 2×8=16

and we have to find total atomic mass so we have taken o { 16}

hope it will help u

plzz mark it as brainliest and follow me

Anonymous: thank you brother for ur help
