helen was born on 27th june 1880 in tuscumbia. from her childhood, she was an intelligent girl who understood everything. she was jzt 1 year when she started saying T-E-A and astonished everyone. she was a fast learner, but her disease deprived her from further speaking skills. she was 1 when she started walking. her mother tuk her out of the bathtub , and she saw the flickering shadow of the leaves on a smooth surface. she ran towards it, but the impulse left and she fell. before the coming of anne ,she had her own sign langs. a nod meant yes and a shake meant no. her constant companions were martha washington, the daughter of her cook, and belle, their dog. she wud spend many happy hours with martha in fields, sheds and stables. when she was 5 , she learnt to fold clothes. she was intelligent enough to distinguish her clothes from others. she would understand when they r going out, and she wud put her new dress, and cover her face with a thick layer of powder and wud get ready. in this way, she spent her life before the coming of anne.
