we have 2x^2+2ax+5x+10
a+x is a factor of this polynomial.
so x=-a
now 2x^2+2ax+5x+10=2a^2-2a^2-5a+10
=-5a+10
hence -5a+10=0
or,a=10/5=2.
so value of a is 2.
