Answer:

B = 48,000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

The population of cities A  & C are 36,000 & 64,000 respectively,.

If the ratio of populations of B to A is same as the ratio of population of C to B, then the population of B is ?

Solution :

We know that,

Population of city A = 36,000

Population of city B = 64,000,.

Also that,

The ratio of populations of B to A is same as the ratio of population of C to B,.

⇒ B : A = C : B

\frac{B}{A} = \frac{C}{B}

B^2 = AC

B = \sqrt{AC}

B = \sqrt{36,000 \times 64,000}

B = \sqrt{(6 \times 6 \times 1000)\times ( 8 \times 8 \times 1000)}

B = 6 \times 8 \times 1000 = 48,000
