Given:

a) u = 4m/s

a = 6m/s²

t = 2s

v = ?

b) u = ?

a = 5m/s²

t = 2s

v = 40m/s

To find:

a) v = ?

b) u = ?

Solution:

Using the kinematic equation

v = u + at

Where

  • v : final velocity
  • u : initial velocity
  • a : acceleration
  • t : time

a) sol:-

→ v = 4 + 6(2)

→ v = 4 + 12

v = 16 m/s

b) sol:-

40 = u + 5(2)

→ 40 - 10 = u

u = 30 m/s

Answer:

V = 16 m/s (first case)

u = 30 m/s (second case)

Explanation:

Given :

First case :

u = 4 m/s

a = 6 m/s²

t = 2 seconds

V (final velocity is to be found)

Second case :

a = 5 m/s²

t = 2 seconds

V = 40 m/s

u (Initial velocity is to be found)

Using first equation of motion :

First case (I)

V=u+at

V=4+6×2

V=4+12

V=16 m/s

The final velocity in first case is 16 m/s

Second case (II)

V=u+at

40=u+5×2

40=u+10

u = 40-10

u = 30 m/s
