let's analyse bucket and rope separately.
For bucket , to take it to a height h work done against gravity is Mgh.......(1)
For rope of mass m, the centre of mass of rope is at middle of the rope that is at h/2
Thus for pulling the rope the work done against gravity is mgh/2...........(2)
