16) according to Rault's law ,
we know,
PA =XA.PA°
=0.4×100= 40 mm

P = XA.P°A + (1 - XA)PB°
=0.4×100 +(1-0.4)×200
=40 + 120 = 160 mm
mole fraction of A in vapour phase
= PA/P = 40/160 = 1/4 =0.25

option (3) is correct .

17) vapour pressure of benzene(PA) = 160mm
vapour pressure of Toluene (PB) =60mm

we know,
P = PA + PB
=160 + 60 = 220 mm

now, mole fraction of toluene = PB/P
=60/220 = 6/22 = 3/11 = 0.28 ≈0.27

so, option (3) is correct

abhi178: means i take more time to solve this . for this question only 2-3 minutes required
abhi178: because less concept of this
Anonymous: ok..... that's bcoz.U have to write all these on ur smart phone and this will oblivious consumes time to type
Anonymous: obviously*
abhi178: yes !!! you are right !!!
abhi178: okay thanks
Anonymous: in the end of the question no. 16 it should be PA/PA° right?
abhi178: No PB/P
abhi178: Where P is =PA + PB by raults law
Anonymous: ok..... I got it
