what did helen comment abt her learning of french language?
Answers
Helen found learning French much more difficult than other subjects. She studied it with Madame Olivier, a French lady who did not know the manual alphabet. She had to give her instructions orally. Helen could not read her lips either; so her progress in learning the French was very slow. However, she managed to read "Le Medecin Malgre Lui". Helen did not like it as much as she did "Wilhelm Tell."
Helen had a French grammar in raised print from which she practiced assiduously. She often composed short exercises in her head, using the new words as she came across them. She even tried, without help, to improve the French pronunciation, as she found all the letters and sounds described in the book. Thus she acquired a sufficient knowledge of French to read with pleasure.
