An unsaturated compound is an organic compound wherein a double bond or triple bond exist between two carbon atoms and not between carbon and oxygen.

So when you see a compound where C=O is present, don't rush and answer it as unsaturated.

The given compound (acetic acid) is SATURATED since it does not contain double or triple bond between two carbon atoms. Again stressing, the carbon-oxygen double bond is not a factor determining saturation of the compound.

So the compound is saturated.
