A = 2 i + 2 j - k

B = 6 i - 3 j +2 k

As A and B are perpendicular to each other ,

R = ( A × B ) / | A × B |

here ,

  • R = unit vector
  • ( A × B ) = cross product
  • | A × B | = magnitude of the cross product

A × B = i. j. k

2. 2. -1

6. -3. 2

A × B

= [ (2×2)-(-3×-1)] i - [(2×2) - ( 6×-1) ] j + [ (-3×2)-(6×2)]k

= [ 4 - 3 ] i - [ 4 + 6 ] j + [ -6 - 12 ] k

= i - 10 j - 18 k

| A × B |

= √ (1)² + (-10)² + (-18)²

= √ 1+100 + 324

= √ 425

=√ 25 × 17

= 5 √17

R = ( A × B ) / | A × B |

R = i - 10 j - 18 k / 5√17

ANSWER :

R = i - 10 j - 18 k / 5√17
