Given :-

x + √15 = 4

So , x = 4 - √15

Now , if x = 4 - √15

then 1/x = 1/4 - √15

=> (1 x 4 + √15) / (4 - √15 )x( 4 + √15 )

=> 4 + √15 / (4)² - (√15)² [ (a-b)(a+b) = a² - b² ]

=> 4 + √15 / 16 - 15

=> 4 + √15

Now , x + 1/x

=> 4 - √15 + 4 + √15

=> 8
