MATHS

A milk container is in the form of frustum of a cone, whose volume is 10459cm3. The radii of lower and upper circular ends at 8 cm and 20 cm respectively. Find the cost of metal sheet used in making the container at the rate of Rs. 2/- per square centimeter.

ANSWER

For frustum,

Volume (V)=10459cm3

Radius of lower circular end (r1)=8cm

Radius of upper circular nd (r2)=20cm

TNow,

Volume of frustum =3πh(r12+r22+r1r2)

10459=722×h(64+400+160)

⇒h=22×62410459×7=5.33cm

Now, slant height (l) is given as-

l=h2+(r1−r2)2

⇒l=28.40+144=13.13cm

Therefore,

Total area of the frustum (A)=π(r1
