An electric cable cost Rs 200.If the cable was 5m longer and each metre of cable costs Rs 2 less,the cost of cable would have remained unchanged.Represent the above situation in the form of a quadratic equation

Let the length of the cable be a
total cost of the cable=200
cost of each metre=200/a
if length=a+5 and cost of each metre=200/a-2
then total cost=200
so,
200/(a-2)*(a+5)=200
200a-1000/a-2=200
total cost of the cable=200
cost of each metre=200/a
if length=a+5 and cost of each metre=200/a-2
then total cost=200
so,
200/(a-2)*(a+5)=200
200a-1000/a-2=200
