The lark and the rook is a poem, belonging to the children's genre.

The poem brings out the humbleness of the lark and boasting of the prideful rook.

When the sun goes down, the lark which is a very small bird, sings a beautiful song and wishes the big rook, good night. It flies away happily to its home, which is a quiet corner in a dewy grassland.

At the sunset, the Lark told "Good night” to sunset.

He also told that as the daylight fades; the sky will soon be dark, and he had bathed his wings in the sun ray, and he had sung his hymn at this instant of parting day.

A friend replied "Good night, my poor Lark,"  with an arrogant and prideful toss and a bend.

He also added that he would go to his rest but not for sleep on the cold, and wet ground.

He continued that the fittest place for a bird like him  Is the topmost of a  tall pine-tree.
