Points A and B are 90 km apart from each other on a highway. A car starts from A and another from B at the same time. If they go in the same direction they meet in 9 hours and if they go in opposite directions they meet in 9/7 hours. Find their speeds.

Let the speed of faster car be x km/h and speed of slower car be y km/h.

Here they are covering a actual distance of 90 km.

When they travel in the same direction, the relative speed becomes (x - y) km/h and time taken is 9 hrs.

As we know the formula of Speed:

Speed = Distance/Time

(x-y) = \frac{90}{9}\\\Rightarrow (x-y) = 10 .................. (1)

Similarly, hen they travel in opposite direction, the relative speed becomes (x+y) km/h and time taken is 9/7 hrs.

Using Speed = Distance/Time :

(x+y) = \frac{90}{\frac{9}7}}\\\Rightarrow (x+y) = 70 .................. (2)

When we solve equations (1) \text{ and } (2), we get x = 40 km/h \text{ and }y = 30 km/h.

So, the speeds are 40 km/h \text{ and }30 km/h.
