Why animals shouldn’t be caged

Some people think because animals cannot talk they do not have rights. Why lock up animals as if they too don’t want to enjoy nature? When we go to forests and wherever else most of them dwell, we don’t see them locking us up, do we?

Or let me put it this way, if you were an animal, how would you feel if you where in a cage living your life with the sole purpose of getting stared at all day, or be treated like an object to be used for the convenience of others.

It is only okay to lock up animals if you can justify it with a very good excuse. Rwanda at the moment doesn’t have a zoo and I think it should be kept that way.

Answer:

It is very unpleasant for these poor animals they deserve better.

Animals need to learn survive survival skills, in cages animals don’t learn the skills they need to have to survive in their natural habitat. If they do get released or escape they will not survive very long because their whole lives or the most of their lives they have been given food and have not had any predators after them. So they won’t know how to eat, where to find food, what to eat, what animals are dangerous to them etc. It’s like someone being put in the middle of the dessert when they have lived on the beach their whole lives, they won’t survive.

Animals learn no survival skills in cages, and will die very quickly if they do get out into the wild.

However some people claim that it is okay to put animals in cages because that way we can keep dangerous animals away from others and be sure that they are all safe. However this is not true. If people didn’t take animals out of their natural environment they would not be in danger from them. Most, if not all, animals can be dangerous if provoked, and caging them, taking them from their homes is just the way to put them, other animals and us humans in danger from attack. Even lions, these so called 'ferocious predators' don't attack us unless they are provoked or feel threatened. With this theory, every animal should be shut up in cages because every animal is capable of hurting us. Putting animals in cages is not going to help, only do harm.

Clearly caging animals is cruel and unnecessary. Not only does it harm many magnificent creatures but it also affects the natural balance of nature. We cannot let these atrocities continue. We must act now. Animals are also living things; therefore we must learn to respect and sympathize with them.
