It can be healthy. Wherever social division exist they are reflected in politics in democracy it is only nature they political parties talk about these divisions they make  different promises to different communities look after diue representation of various communities and make policies to redress the disadvantaged communities. Social divisions also affect voting in many countries. People from one community tend to prefer the party belong to his own community more than others
