The transfer of pollen grains from the opened anther of the stamen to the receptive stigma of the carpel/pistil is called pollination. Each pollen grain grows and provides two male gametes for fertilisation of an ovule.

Defination:

Pollination is a process of pollen transfer from a male gametophyte to a female gametophyte. This process of pollination play a major role in the reproduction process.

Process:

Pollen grains come to the surface of anther through a tube called stamen, and, moves to the female part of the plant. When a pollen from a male gametophyte lands on the female gametophte of a same plant, it is called self pollination. On the other hand, if it lands on a female gametophyte of a different plant, it is called cross-pollination.

Vectors:

Moreover there are many biological vectors that helps in pollination such as insects. When a honey bee lands on a flower, the pollen attach to its body and move along as the bee moves from a flower to a flower. Insects carry out cross pollination.
