Pollution is defined as the unwanted and harmful material present in air water and soil which tends to harm them and also to the human and other living things.

• The cause of pollution is burning of fossil fuels, burning of plastics, and release of harmful materials from industries directly into the environment or river, etc.
• These pollution affect the environment adversely. Rainfall is mostly affected by the pollution, there is a change in pattern of monsoon in India.
• Nowadays there are much less rainfall in the peak time, further and there is much rainfall which causes flood in that area.
• Also the rainfall water becomes acidic in nature due to the mixing of sulphur and nitrogen oxide with them. This is known as acid rain.
• The effect of this acid rain can be seen on the marbles of Taj Mahal, the marbles are becoming yellowish and is degraded due to acid rain .
