Given, No. of novels bought on Monday is x

Tuesday = x+3

Wednesday = 2(x+3)

Thursday = x+1

Now, x+x+3+2(x+3)+x+1 =110

or, 2x+3+2x+6+x+1=110

or, 5x+10 =110

or, 5x=110-10

or, 5x =100

or, x =100/5 =20

(a) On Tuesday = x+3 = 20+3 =23

On Wednesday = 2(x+3) = 2(20+3)

=2×23 =46

On Thursday = x+1 = 20+1 =21
