The Amazon basin is very low populated because of the rainforest and is very dense. Rainforests are not a very friendly environment for humans because of the lack of fresh water, dangerous animals, lack of solid ground, lack of dry shelter, skeeters, limited fuel and food sources and difficult to survive.
