• The positive effect of liberalization on education is that it encourages admirable students outside the North-east region to get admission and get a scholarship.

• The mandatory and persistent nature of GATS is perhaps one of its main problems for those who fear its negative influence on education, as Members have almost no option of changing their minds in the future unless they withdraw from the WTO, in agreement with Article XV of the WTO’s Charter.
