Cell theory was giving by German Botanist Matthias Schleiden and Theodar Schwann. Cell theory Postulates are as follows:

  1. Cell is a basic functional and structural  unit of life.
  2. All living organisms are made up of cells.
  3. All cell arise from pre-existing cells.

Postulates of cell theory are following -:

1.)All living organism are made up of one or more cells.

2.)Cells are basic units of structure and function in all living organisms.

3.)All cell arise from pre -existing cells.


These are postulates because -:
*Viruses are non-cellular organisms. They do not have nucleus, cytoplasm or enzymes and do not perform any life activity. They can multiply only inside the living host by taking over theirm machinery.
*Bacteria and blue green algae are not true cells. They do not have nuclear membrane and Cells organelles.

-----Hence, these are opposite of above mentioned cell theory and make it as postulates.
