The Supreme Court is the highest court of justice in India and situated in New Delhi.
There are 24 high Court in India despite their being 29 states. This is so because the 7 north eastern state share a common high Court located at Guwahati and Haryana share its High Court with the state of Punjab.
The first High Court was established in the presidency state of Bombay, Calcutta and Madras in 1862. The Delhi High Court was established in the year 1966.
