Step-by-step explanation:

As we know in a rectangle opposite sides are equal

So, PQ=RS=x and QR=PS=y

If we consider the rectangle to be two triangles(∆PSR and ∆QRS),

Then,

In∆PSR,Applying Pythagoras theorem,

(PR)^2=(PS)^2+(RS)^2.

(12.5)^2=(y)^2+(x)^2 --------(1)

In∆QRS, Applying Pythagoras theorem,

(QS)^2=(QR)^2+(RS)^2

(QR)^2=(y)^2+(x)^2

Hence By this we can prove that QS=PR=12.5 cm
