Pragya wrapped a cord around a circular pipe of radius 4 cm and cut off the length required of the cord then she wrapped it around a square box of side 4 cm.

She will have cord of length 9.12 cm left

Step-by-step explanation:

Radius of the circular pipe r = 4 cm

If the cord is qrapped around the pipe and length cut then the length of the cord will be equal to the circumference of the circle with radius 4 cm

Therefore,

The length of the cord

C=2\pi r

\implies C=2\times 3.14\times 4

\implies C=25.12 cm

Now if the cord is wrapped around a square box of sides 4 cm then the length of the cord required will be equal to the perimeter of the box

Perimeter of the box

P=4\times 4

\implies P=16 cm

Since P < C therefore shw will have some cord left

The length of the cord left

=C-P

=25.12-16 cm

=9.12 cm

Hope this answer is helpful.
