Pratap paid only 75% money as 25% was discount.

Let marked price be x

Pratap paid

75 ×x /100

= 3x/4 is money paid by pratap or cost price

According to question,

3x/4 × 140 /100 = x+40

3x/4 ×140/100 - x = 40

4.2x /4 -x = 40

0.2x/4 = 40

x = Rs 800 is the marked price

Pratap paid 3x/4 Rs

So, by substituting

3×800/4 = Rs 600 is money paid by Pratap or cost price of radio

Therefore, Pratap bought radio at Rs 600

Hope it helped you dear friend
